President Donald Trump said at a wide-ranging news conference on Thursday afternoon at the White House that reports of a temper tantrum on his part during a meeting the previous day with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and others were false and out of line. He called on the Democrats to step up to plate, put aside needless and countless investigations — especially after the nearly two-year Mueller investigation found no evidence of any collusion with Russian interests during the 2016 presidential campaign — and try to get something done for the good of the American people.
“She’s not the same person. She’s lost it … She is a mess,” he said in part about the speaker, who has attacked him mercilessly in recent weeks.

White House Counselor Kellyanne Conway backed up the president’s comments on Thursday, saying during the press conference that he was “very calm, no temper tantrum,” on Wednesday.
Others spoke out in his defense as well as he called on them, including press secretary Sarah Sanders and Larry Kudlow, the economic adviser.
“You were very calm,” said Kudlow during the briefing.
Democratic leaders claimed Trump was fuming on Wednesday in the Cabinet Room and that he supposedly stomped out after demanding an end to all congressional investigations before he’d work with congressional lawmakers on infrastructure and other matters.

Pelosi, in her weekly news conference, even tossed out subtle suggestions and and hints that perhaps the president needs assistance.
“I wish that his family or his administration or his staff would have an intervention for the good of the country,” Pelosi said, among other comments — and added that she prays for him and the nation.
“Maybe he wants to take a leave of absence,” she even said.
When asked whether she was concerned about Trump’s well-being, she replied, “I am.”
Trump on Thursday focused on his support for American farmers, saying in part, “The $16 billion in funds will help keep our cherished farms thriving and make clear that no country has veto on America’s economic and national security.”
