In the months since Donald J. Trump’s victory over Hillary Clinton, the left has tried desperately to blame her defeat on Russian “hacking” conspiracy theories.
No evidence of any kind has ever been presented, and Barack Obama’s CIA Director John Brennan was forced to concede that point during recent testimony before Congress.
In fact, the only crime related to the 2016 election was Susan Rice’s unmasking of Trump campaign officials who were illegally spied on and ‘unmasked’ by the Obama administration – specifically Michael Flynn. Many have speculated that Ms. Rice not only unmasked Flynn’s name, but leaked this information to the liberal media.
Now, conservative hero Congressman Trey Gowdy is fighting back, demanding answers.
In an interview with Fox News, Gowdy said that major intelligence programs used by our government would not be reauthorized by Congress until questions about “unmasking” of U.S. citizens have been fully answered.

“That is a privilege to be able to request that a U.S. person’s name be unmasked,” said Gowdy. “I want to know who’s making the request [and] what is the evidentiary basis of that request? And if it’s late in your tenure – like the day before you leave office – that should send off alarms and sirens in your head as to why that person did it,” said Gowdy.
Gowdy said key parts of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act won’t be renewed before they expire at year-end unless the American people are satisfied that their “security is going to be safeguarded.”
Asked whether there is evidence of the Obama administration “abusing” the unmasking procedures, Gowdy said the matter needs to be looked at further.
Gowdy said he’s still waiting for answers about what occurred late in the Obama administration, but is not accusing the former president of “spying” on the Trump team.

The intelligence programs, which are subject to Congressional authorization, are extremely controversial in their own right as many argue that the surveillance programs violate the Fourth Amendment rights of millions of innocent Americans.
Putting the authorization of these programs aside, Congressman Gowdy is right to demand further information into the potential illegal “unmasking” of U.S. citizens by members of the Obama administration.
If Susan Rice, or any other government official, illegally spied on and unmasked associates of then-candidate Trump for political purposes, that is a crime of epic proportions.
Congress and the American people deserve answers but unfortunately the pro-Obama media does not think the illegal “unmasking” is a story worth covering.
