Conservative hero and former prosecutor Congressman Trey Gowdy tore Democrats to shreds during an interview with Fox News host Martha MacCallum, and he didn’t hold anything back.
Two things of note – Gowdy believes there is a very simple ‘remedy’ to the temporary travel ban issued by President Trump, and he offered his usual rapier wit in describing why the Democrats are so vehemently attacking former National Security Adviser Mike Flynn.
First off, the immigration order:
Gowdy has been a fierce critic of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals for ruling against reinstating Trump’s Executive Order temporarily limiting travel from seven countries with ties to terrorism.
He said it’s clear the judges “are neither in a position, practically or jurisprudentially, to second-guess national security determinations made by the Commander-in-Chief.”
But not to worry, as Gowdy says there is a simple, effective way to rectify the situation without appealing to the Supreme Court.

He said that Trump, however, could rectify the order’s shortcomings by delineating categories of people entering the U.S. from the seven countries listed.
Gowdy explained that a U.S. citizen is entitled to the “full panoply” of constitutional rights, while at the other end of the spectrum, a Yemeni citizen has no constitutional protections or right to due process.
“With different categories, like non-immigrant visa holders vs. U.S. citizens vs. non-U.S. citizens, there’s a different legal analysis,” Gowdy said.
He said it’s up to President Trump’s legal advisers to provide evidentiary basis for that argument that will withstand a court’s scrutiny.
“His executive order is pretty easily remedied, and you can remedy it without going to the U.S. Supreme Court,” he said.
That is welcome news for an administration that has encountered the full breadth of liberal activism, being bombarded on all sides from the media, judicial activists, organized protesters, and Democrat politicians.

Gowdy’s explanation for why his Democrat colleagues are so eager to attack and investigate the Trump administration is classic Gowdy – biting humor with a good chunk of naked truth.
He ripped Democrats, saying they had a newfound energy to pursue ethics because they were well rested from ignoring any standards during the Obama years, or during the Benghazi investigation.
My Democratic colleagues have amnesia. I will say this. They are very well rested because for eight years, they didn’t lift a finger to do oversight. So all of that energy you saw today at their press conference, that’s because they want on an eight year long vacation from doing oversight over the executive branch.
