If There’s One Person Our Troops Miss At Thanksgiving It’s This Guy Here! He Was Huge!

Thanksgiving

With Thanksgiving closing in, let’s take a moment to remember 2003 when then-President George W. Bush traveled to Iraq without the knowledge of the media or soldiers on the ground.

Paul Bremer, then the senior civilian in Iraq, got on stage and asked if there was anyone more senior to him on the base – and that’s when President Bush walked out on stage.

“Thanks for inviting me to dinner,” Bush opened.

After saying he was just looking for a “ warm meal,” the President said, “I can’t think of finer folks to have Thanksgiving dinner with than you all.”

President Bush even took time to help serve some of those very soldiers serving the nation:

On the flight back to Texas, President Bush explained his reasons for making the trip.

“I thought it was important to send that message that we care for them (the troops) and we support them strongly, that we erase any doubts in their minds as to whether or not the people stand with them.

“Having seen the reaction of those troops, you know it was the right thing to do.”

If there is one thing Bush loved with a passion, it was our U.S. Military. They were his pride and joy and they knew it. That time has come and gone but hopefully the next president will have the same love for our troops.
