CNN, MSNBC Try To Corner Sen. Ted Cruz on Hurricane Sandy Relief Bill

We’re quite certain it had to be nothing more than a coincidence.

Two major left-leaning networks tried to hammer Texas Senator Ted Cruz by saying Republicans didn’t want to provide relief for those suffering in the wake of Hurricane Sandy in 2012.

MSNBC’s Katy Tur asked Cruz why he voted against a $50 billion relief bill, saying “Those people lost everything they owned.”

The Texas senator wasn’t having it, explaining that “Two-thirds of that bill had nothing to do with Sandy.”

“The accurate thing to say is that I and others enthusiastically and emphatically supported hurricane relief,” Cruz corrected. “The problem with that particular bill was that it turned into a $50 billion bill that was filled with unrelated pork.”

Via the Daily Caller:

Sen. Ted Cruz shut down MSNBC host Katy Tur Monday when she asked him why he previously voted against a bill that provided aid for Hurricane Sandy.

Cruz was on the ground in Texas when Tur asked him if it was hypocritical to ask for federal aid to help with the devastation from Hurricane Harvey when he had voted against a Sandy aid bill.

Cruz tried to redirect the interview away from political questions, telling Tur it was not time for “political sniping,” but she continued to press the point …

… “Two-thirds of that bill had nothing to do with Sandy,” Cruz asserted. “It’s not right for politicians to exploit a disaster…to pay for their own political wishlist.”

CNN was up next, with Jim Acosta claiming that Texas members voted against the bill because they didn’t want to give relief to people in New York or New Jersey.

Cruz also handed him his hat for that lie …

The multi-billion dollar Sandy aid package was passed with a sense of urgency on the part of Democrats, but nearly a year later only a little more than 1% had actually been distributed to victims of the hurricane.

They won’t tell you that little detail though, will they?

Worse, some Democrats used that aid package to help their political careers. Take New York governor Andrew Cuomo for instance, who used $211 million of that money to produce ads designed to sell the concept of ‘business in NY,’ an attempt to promote his floundering Start-Up NY initiative.

The media has revealed their method of attack against Republicans – portray them as hypocrites now that a hurricane has devastated a red state.

Never let a crisis go to waste.
