How awesome is this?

The “Preston & Steve” radio show from Philadelphia, PA, raised 1,367,384 pounds (683 tons) of food and $74,000 for a local food bank in just 5 days. This dynamic duo collected over 1.3 million pounds of non-perishable food items, representing the largest amount in the event’s history, dating back to 1998.

Listeners and local businesses also contributed over $74,000 in cash. The combination results in over 1.4 million meals that Philabundance can provide to hungry individuals in the Delaware Valley.

You can only imagine Preston and Steve’s surprise when all of these donations rolled in and kept rolling in. If it were me, I would probably call it an avalanche of blessings. Steve decided to write a thank you note to everyone that contributed and it was awesome!

From Steve & Preston:

“I wanted to give a heartfelt THANK YOU to each and every person who found the time to contribute, volunteer or support this year’s Preston and Steve Camp Out for Hunger.

This was our 19th year, and it only keeps getting better. We spent five days camped out in a parking lot asking for your help, and you went above and beyond! This year we managed to collect 1,367,384 (yes MILLION) pounds (683 tons) of food for Philabundance. That is just over one hundred TONS more that we received last year! The largest food drive in the country! And it was soo much fun!

From Villanova’s Jay Wright winning our City 6 Pop-a-shot challenge, to live performances from Dave Matthews’ Boyd Tinsley and The Record Company. To M Night Shamalan, 76er’s shoot around, Shinedown, Sixx, A.M., The Eagles Connor Barwin and John Dorenbos. To 130 Jeeps and 160 Porches showing up at the same time. To the endless parade of TV personalities and friends of the show. If you missed it you missed one hell of a party! Would love to see you there for next years extravaganza. Again thank you to all those who made it out. You rock!!!!!!”

With your help and tireless efforts, the 2016 Camp Out for Hunger was our most successful event yet!

Steve and Preston dropped a surprising tweet also:

Once again, humanity shows we still have a chance to dispel the myth that our planet is done because of selfishness and hatred. Congrats to Steve and Preston. This record may never be broken, but then again there is always next year.

Have you heard of anything like this? Preston and Steve must be pretty popular on their radio show to accumulate so much love and response.
