There is heartbreaking news coming out of Fort Carson in Colorado: A U.S. Army soldier has passed away following a training accident. The death occurred around 2:30 AM today.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected by this tragedy,” the installation said in a statement.
The identity of the soldier was not immediately made public.

But The Gazette confirmed that the incident took place about 2:30 a.m. on range 155, a training area on the post’s southeast corner that is used for large- scale training events involving armored vehicles, infantry, artillery and aircraft.
The Federal Aviation Administration, in a warning to airmen, confirmed training planned on that range Wednesday, noting that ground troops would be training alongside the post’s AH-64 Apache attack helicopters in “live-fire” maneuvers.
President Trump has just announced that more troops will be sent to Afghanistan. This is tragic news for our armed forces, at a time when they need moral support for the dangerous mission they’re about to undertake.
