Report: Documents Show Obama Admin Interfered In Israeli Election

Newly unearthed documents from The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) have shown the Obama administration interfered in the 2015 Israeli elections in an attempt to defeat Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, then misled Congress about it.

President Obama’s State Department provided hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants to a pair of non-profit groups who, in turn, funneled the money to political groups trying to unseat Netanyahu.

Taxpayer funds were sent to OneVoice Israel and OneVoice Palestine who used these resources to actively and vehemently campaign against the Prime Minister’s re-election bid.

The actions taken by the non-profit groups are prohibited under U.S. tax law.

And here we thought Obama believed that interference in Democratic elections was a sign of an impending apocalypse. Hypocrite much?

The Washington Free Beacon reported in 2016 that State Department officials actively tried to cover up their attempts to take down Netanyahu.

“A senior State Department official admitted to congressional investigators that he deleted several emails pertaining to the administration’s coordination with OneVoice,” they wrote.

Such actions violate the Federal Records Act, mandating official records be archived for future disclosure purposes.

When news of this illegal activity leaked in February of 2015, Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY) suggested President Obama might want to brush up on his foreign policy.

He clearly “needs a refresher course on who our friends are and who our enemies are,” Zeldin said of the President.

Zeldin and Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) sent a letter to Secretary of State John Kerry around the same time, outlining their concerns that the President had used the government of the United States to “exercise any influence over elections in a foreign country.”

The letter also stated that Obama had no right to use tax dollars to play party politics thousands of miles away from his own country.

These new documents seem to confirm that is exactly what happened and the Obama administration tried to hide it from the American people.

“In short, U.S. taxpayer funds were distributed by the Obama State Department to two sister organizations with clear political goals of undermining – indeed, unseating – the sitting prime minister of a U.S. ally,” the ACLJ report reads.

The federal government would eventually claim to lawmakers that “there is absolutely no basis to claims that the Department of State has funded efforts to influence the current Israeli election campaign.”

Not true according to the ACLJ.

“At best, the Obama State Department shirked its responsibility by failing to gather all the facts from key officials before responding to an inquiry by Members of Congress,” they state. “At worst, it intentionally misled them.”

Shocking!
