Another day, another Trump comment that is driving liberals absolutely mad.
“Trump finally comments on soldier deaths in Niger; falsely knocks Obama over his responses to dead soldiers” read one headline on CNN. Trump received criticism yesterday for not publicly commenting on the deaths of four elite U.S. soldiers in Niger, which U.S. officials blamed on ISIS-affiliated militants. Trump responded to that criticism, saying that he’d penned personal letters to their families and planned to phone them later this week.
And after that, he knocked Obama and the media. He accused previous presidents of not writing to or calling the families of fallen soldiers. He doubled-down on that claim this morning. “For the most part, to the best of my knowledge, I think I’ve called every family of somebody that’s died, and it’s the hardest call to make, and I said it very loud and clear yesterday. The hardest thing for me to do is do that,” Trump said Tuesday morning during an interview with Fox News radio host Brian Kilmeade.
Despite Trump saying “I don’t know what Obama’s policy was,” CNN’s article reported that “He [Trump] also claimed, without merit, that his predecessors hadn’t written or called the families of slain American troops during their tenures, though the tradition of presidents reaching out after US servicemen are killed in action is long-established.”
That’s not completely true. Trump’s claim about General Kelly turned out to be on the mark. According to the Daily Mail, “Former President Barack Obama did not personally call Gen. John Kelly, a Marine General who had commanded a multinational force in Iraq, when his son got killed in action in Afghanistan, according to an administration source.”
The report continues: “Marine 1st Lieutenant Robert Kelly was killed in action in Afghanistan on Nov. 9, 2010. At the time, his father was commander of the Marine Forces Reserve and Marine Forces North.”
Liberals, meanwhile, were going nuts that Trump had the audacity to point out that Obama kept his trap shut:

It’s bizarre that it’s the Kelly comment they’re drawing attention to…. because what Trump said was completely true.
Share this story if you’re disgusted Obama never called John Kelly after his son died in Afghanistan!
