On Wednesday, Sen. Mitt Romney admitted that had already cast his ballot for the 2020 election, and voted against President Donald Trump.

Romney told CNN, “I did not vote for President Trump.”

Romney Would Not Reveal Who He Voted For

Sen. Romney would not reveal whether he voted for Democratic nominee Joe Biden for president, a third party candidate, or wrote someone in.

Romney has been a frequent critic of the President, aligning himself with Never Trump Republicans, most of whom appear to long for the days of the old Bush-Cheney GOP establishment.

Obviously, Trump is a long way from the Republican Party of old.

Similar to Romney opposing Trump, over 350 high profile Republicans – many of whom worked under President George W. Bush – are voting for Biden in this election.

Romney has often been at odds with Trump’s “America First” agenda and was also the only Republican senator to vote to impeach President Trump.

Romney Angry With Trump For Not Denouncing Conspiracy Theories

The Utah senator recently blasted President Trump for not flatly condemning and denouncing the “QAnon” conspiracy theory when he had the opportunity during last Thursday’s town hall event.

Romney said in a Friday statement the day after the townhall, “The President’s unwillingness to denounce an absurd and dangerous conspiracy theory last night continues an alarming pattern: politicians and parties refuse to forcefully and convincingly repudiate groups like antifa, white supremacists, and conspiracy peddlers.”

“As the parties rush down the rabbit hole, they may be opening a door to a political movement that could eventually eclipse them both,” the senator added.

While he has spent most of his senate career criticizing Trump, it should be noted that Romney gladly accepted the President’s endorsement in his 2018 senate race.

Trump Endorsed Romney In His 2018 Senate Race

In 2018, President Trump endorsed Romney in the Senate election to replace then-retiring Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT) — an endorsement Romney accepted.

Trump made the endorsement even after Romney aggressively attacked Trump in 2016, and said the President was unfit for office.

“Thank you Mr. President for the support,” Romney tweeted in February 2018. “I hope that over the course of the campaign I also earn the support and endorsement of the people of Utah.”
