White House Communications Director Mike Dubke Resigns

President Donald J. Trump has been back in the White House for less than a week after returning from his historic first trip overseas as President.

And now, amidst endless reports in the liberal media about leaks and turmoil in the administration, White House Communications Director Mike Dubke has abruptly resigned after just three months on the job.

Dubke’s resignation is the first high-profile departure in Trump’s communication shop, as rumors of a major shakeup have been discussed for weeks. Among those believed to be on the chopping block are Chief of Staff Reince Priebus, who is being rumored to leave the White House and serve as Ambassador to Greece.

Less than two months ago, Katie Walsh, who served as President Trump’s Deputy Chief of Staff, left the White House to work with outside groups that will promote the President’s agenda.

From The Washington Post:

Dubke, who served in the post for three months, tendered his resignation May 18. He offered to stay on to help manage communications in Washington during Trump’s foreign trip, and the president accepted.

Dubke’s last day on the job has not been determined. But it could be as early as Tuesday, when he was expected to meet with his staff at the White House, said a senior administration official, who required anonymity to discuss a personnel move that has not yet been formally announced.

In an email to friends and associates on Tuesday morning, Dubke wrote: “It has been my great honor to serve President Trump and this administration. It has also been my distinct pleasure to work side-by-side, day-by-day with the staff of the communications and press departments.”

During an appearance on Fox & Friends Tuesday morning, Kellyanne Conway explained that Dubke expressed his desire to depart the White House several weeks ago:

Dubke has been in Republican politics for decades, but was not part of President Trump’s inner circle during the 2016 campaign.

Those who have no ties to President Trump, such as Press Secretary Sean Spicer and Reince Priebus, seem to have had a hard time adjusting to full-time White House roles, and Trump supporters have questioned their commitment to the President’s agenda.

While Dubke was never a vocal critic of the president, one has to wonder whether or not his resignation was voluntary, or whether he was pressured to leave in order to make way for Trump loyalists to take over.

Trump’s former campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, is reportedly in talks to accept a White House job and help clean house, specifically clamp down on the numerous leaks that have plagued this administration.

Do you think Dubke’s departure means that President Trump can finally put true loyalists into positions of power within his administration? Share your thoughts below!
