Friday is the first day of fall, and First Lady Melania Trump marked the occasion by joining students from the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington, D.C., to harvest and plant vegetables in the White House Kitchen Garden.
Even during her day-to-day activities, we’re used to seeing Melania dressed up in glamorous dresses and heels. But she chose a much more casual look for helping out in the garden, wearing a flannel shirt, dark jeans, and sneakers. And she still looked flawless!
It’s easy to forget that Melania has very humble roots. Clearly she’s not afraid to get her hands dirty!

Prior to the event, officials said the students would be harvesting arugula, peas, radishes, and Swiss chard while planting cabbage, cauliflower, turnips, carrots, kale, spinach, and lettuce. The First Lady didn’t shy away from any of the work, including using a trowel to dig up the dirt and using a watering can to water to freshly planted crops.
One thing’s for certain: Melania’s a natural when it comes to working with children!
