First Lady Melania Trump to Move Into White House Next Week

After months of rumors, First Lady Melania Trump and her young son Barron are finally going to leave their Trump Tower residence in New York City and move into the White House full time.

Ever since her husband, President Donald J. Trump, took office in January, people have been speculating when, if at all, Melania would make the move to D.C. The First Lady decided to delay her move to allow her son Barron to finish up the school year with his friends, but now it is time to move.

The First Lady has made frequent trips to D.C. with her son, and last month Barron surprised his friends from school with a trip to the White House, an experience they will likely never forget.

From Politico:

Melania Trump’s parents, Victor and Amalija Knavs, are also expected to become more familiar figures around the White House, helping care for Barron, though they don’t plan to relocate full time to Washington, as Michelle Obama’s mother, Marian Robinson, did. The hyperinvolved grandparents currently live with their daughter and grandson in the Trump Tower penthouse and spend most weekends with the Trumps at Mar-a-Lago, or at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey.

Over the past few weeks, the often stiff-in-her-role first lady has been spending more time in the White House, building out her East Wing staff, preparing the residence for the family and slowly increasing her schedule of public events. On Sunday evening, she attended a fundraising gala for Ford’s Theatre, and on Monday she and Trump hosted a reception at her soon-to-be-home to honor Gold Star families.

But the June 14 date is seen as a major marker on the White House calendar — when the first lady puts away the full matching set of Louis Vuitton luggage that she travels with and settles in for good.

The White House can be a lonely place for anyone, so President Trump is probably extremely happy to be reunited with his family full-time. President Trump has frequently left the White House on the weekends in order to spend more time with family and friends, and Melania and Barron’s move will certainly allow the president to remain in D.C. more often.

In addition to Melania and Barron, the president has his daughters Ivanka and Tiffany living in Washington, allowing the close-knit Trump family to spend even more time together.
