Kevin McCarthy Rips Democrats For Court-Packing Push – ‘Should Scare Every American’

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) spoke out on Thursday to slam Democrats and warn of repercussions for their proposal to add four additional justices to the U.S. Supreme Court.

McCarthy said that what they are doing “should scare every American” because it shows “how far the Democratic Party has moved,” adding that Democratic President Joe Biden and other justices have “been opposed” to court-packing in the past.

McCarthy Issues Chilling Warning

“This should scare every single American, regardless of where you stand politically,” McCarthy warned. “The Democrats inside Congress today would rather dismantle this nation than dignify the Constitution. This just goes to show how far the Democratic Party has moved. There almost are no longer common sense or moderate Democrats elected.”

“Even Joe Biden in the past was opposed to this,” he added. “Those Democrats on the Supreme Court were opposed to this because what this simply does is it’s about control. It’s overtaking a branch of government simply to have your control over a nation.”

“It must be the scariest thing I’ve ever heard them do. I never thought they would go this far,” McCarthy concluded. “But now they’re not only proposing it — they’re moving it in legislation form.”

Democrats Supporting Supreme Court Packing

The bill to pack the Supreme Court is being supported by Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA), House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA), and Rep. Mondaire Jones (D-NY).

“Our democracy is hanging by a thread. And the far-right majority on the U.S. Supreme Court is cutting it,” Jones said, according to Fox News.

“The majority’s doctrine is clear: if a law suppresses the right to vote, it is constitutional; if a law protects the right to vote, especially for Black and brown voters, it is unconstitutional. The American people have had enough,” he added.

“Republicans stole the Court’s majority, with Justice Amy Coney Barrett’s confirmation completing their crime spree,” Markey stated.. “Of all the damage Donald Trump did to our Constitution, this stands as one of his greatest travesties.”

McConnell Sounds Off

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has also spoken out to slam Democrats for this bill.

“It’s not just about whether this insane bill becomes law,” McConnell said. “Part of the point here are the threats themselves. The left wants a sword dangling over the justices when they weigh the facts in every case.”

“As the Democrat leader threatened just two years ago, Democrats want the justices to know that they will, quote, ‘pay the price,’ end quote, for rulings that Democrats don’t like,” he continued.
