Smithsonian Refuses to Honor Clarence Thomas – Honors Colin Kaepernick Instead

The Smithsonian recently added the National Museum of African American History and Culture, but it doesn’t feature the second black Supreme Court justice, Clarence Thomas.

We all know the reason Justice Thomas is missing: He’s a conservative. How else do you justify excluding one of only two black SCOTUS justices to have ever served?

The Smithsonian’s decision to exclude Thomas last year was so surprising to some that even Congress got involved. Texas Sen. John Cornyn introduced a resolution asking the Smithsonian Institution to recognize the “historical importance” of Justice Thomas. Georgia Rep. Earl L. “Buddy” Carter and Texas Rep. Pete Sessions introduced a similar bill in the House of Representatives.

And in a move that should make conservatives even less happy, the museum is now going to be honoring San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, of all people.

Museum curators made the announcement on Saturday.

Damion Thomas, the museum’s sports curator, told USA Today in an email that Kaepernick items will be featured in an exhibit on the Black Lives Matter movement, which Kaepernick has become a face of after he began protesting the national anthem last year at NFL games.

“The Colin Kaepernick collection is in line with the museum’s larger collecting efforts to document the varied areas of society that have been impacted by the Black Lives Matter movement,” Thomas said.

Items the museum plans to display include game-worn cleats and a game-worn jersey, which Kaepernick wore during his tenure as a quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers.

What did Kaepernick actually accomplish? Earning $10 million a year and then self-sabotaging?

This is very disappointing. Clarence Thomas rose from poverty to be a judge on the highest court on the land. Kaepernick is a spoiled brat who doesn’t respect his own country or his own people.

It’s a shame that he has a museum exhibit.

Share this story if you think the National Museum of African American History and Culture should dump Kaepernick and have an exhibit for Clarence Thomas!
