Parents of Jackson Riley Respond After His Suspension for Making Terrorist Threats

Political-correctness has turned the world mad.

A five-year-old boy was suspended from school for cracking a joke about having a bomb in his backpack.

You read that right: A five-year-old was suspended for possibly being a terrorist.

Jackson Riley, a student of  Great Valley Academy in Modesto, California, was kicked out of school because he told his teacher he couldn’t remove his backpack because there was a bomb in it. A letter was sent home to Riley’s parents, saying that their son, “intentionally engaged in harassment, threats, or intimidation.”

Riley’s parents weren’t buying it. Since that rule only applied to students in 4th through 12th grade, and Riley is in kindergarten, they fought back. The school sent a second letter accusing Riley of engaging in “terroristic threats.”

Is that really the society we want to have? Where a kid with an overactive imagination is suspended over a clear and obvious joke?

This is just plain ludicrous:

The kid is wearing a Super Mario backpack for heaven’s sake. Now his record may show that he was no better than an ISIS murderer. How is that fair or justified?

It isn’t. Riley’s parents are still fighting with the school to get the matter resolved and ensure it doesn’t ruin their child’s future.

This incident shows the sad state of schooling in America. Whatever happened to discretion? Whatever happened laughing off youthful mistakes?

This is similar to the incident of the 7-year-old Maryland boy who chewed his pop-tart into a gun and was suspended from school:

Liberal busy-bodies insist on hampering children’s imaginations to make them fit perfectly into a contrived model. This is not only wrongheaded, it steals away the ability for children to expand their mind and try new things.
