Sanctuary cities might need a new name to describe themselves now that the Trump Administration rendered the term moot earlier this week.
In fact, a four-day operation appropriately named ‘Safe City,’ saw U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Enforcement Removal Operations (ERO) teams detain nearly 500 illegal immigrants from over 40 cities.
The agents specifically targeted the aforementioned ‘sanctuary jurisdictions.’
Acting ICE Director Tom Homan reminded these areas that, “Sanctuary jurisdictions that do not honor detainers or allow us access to jails and prisons are shielding criminal aliens.”
By doing so he added, they are “creating a magnet for illegal immigration.”

Of those detained, a vast majority (317 or 64%) had prior criminal convictions. Another 21 percent (104) were previously deported criminal illegal aliens. And another 18 were gang members or were affiliated in some way with gang activity.
Were we played? Would any of the other 16 potential nominees arrest 450 over 4 years let alone a single day?https://t.co/gHQGCiPofu

Those detained weren’t harmless individuals by any stretch. One woman in Baltimore was charged with attempted murder and had an assault conviction on her resume, but was released by local authorities before ICE could take custody of her!
This past summer, Homan warned so-called sanctuary cities that ICE was sending additional personnel to their locations.
“It’s not OK to be here,” Homan said. “If you’re in a sanctuary city, that’s where we send additional resources.”

Liberals pretending they’re actually helping illegals are now actually making it easier for ICE to do their job by bringing them into specifically labeled ‘sanctuaries.’
Brilliant!
“We’re going to enforce the laws on the books without apology,” Homan announced during a July press gathering. “You’re going to be held accountable.”
Homan added that the concept of providing sanctuary to those who enter the country illegally is ‘ludicrous.’
“In the America I grew up in, cities didn’t shield people who violated the law,” Homan said. “What I want to get is a clear understanding from everybody, from the congressmen to the politicians to law enforcement to those who enter the country illegally, that ICE is open for business.”
Judging by the nearly 500 arrests this week, not only is ICE open for business but business is pretty good.
