Hillary Clinton Endorses Ending Electoral College

As Hillary continues her blame game book tour, she’s adding another complaint to the list – the Electoral College.

What a sore loser! It’s just like a liberal to want to change the rules of the game after losing. And it’s especially just like a liberal to not understand and take to heart the laws and checks and balances set forth in our Constitution.

In a CNN interview about her new book “What Happened,” Clinton said in reference to the Electoral College, “I think it needs to be eliminated…I’d like to see us move beyond it, yes.”

To remind people why we have the Electoral College, it’s to prevent the presidency from becoming a simple popularity contest. Pretty much only major U.S. cities would matter in presidential elections and the candidates would cater to the mostly liberal people in those areas. New York City and Los Angeles, the most progressive cities in the nation, would be controlling our country. Like it’s said, the president of the United States is the president of ALL the people. Getting rid of the Electoral College would essentially make him or her the president of New York and California. Imagine President Pelosi or Schumer. **SHUDDER**

Politicians are already too out-of-touch and eliminating the Electoral College would only make things worse. Having candidates go to places like Iowa and New Hampshire to get Electoral College votes forces them to actually meet people outside the major cities and listen to their concerns. If all they needed was the popular vote, they would never even hear the issues of middle America, never mind address them.

This was part of Hillary’s problem. People have noted Hillary did not make enough of an effort in states like Michigan and Wisconsin. Perhaps if Hillary had been better attuned to the people of those states, she would have adjusted her strategy and platform to get those votes. The people wanted to be heard and President Trump reached out, listened, and spoke to people’s concerns.

CNN also noted that Hillary supported abolishing the Electoral College after Gore lost. “I believe strongly that in a democracy, we should respect the will of the people and to me, that means it’s time to do away with the Electoral College and move to the popular election of our president,” she told reporters at the time.

Sorry, Hillary, we are not a democracy, and intentionally so. We are a constitutional republic. The founding fathers did not want the popular vote to be what was important because they knew that it would result in the tyranny of the majority and they wanted to protect minority rights.

We need more voices, not less, and getting rid of the Electoral College would essentially shut people out. Which, come to think of it, is exactly what liberals love – shutting down other voices. And disrespecting our Constitution, especially when it was written by a bunch of “dead, white, slave-holding men.”

Time for Hillary to get off the political stage and let the people who understand how the Constitution works get on with governing.
