Fox News Back On Top In Prime-Time Ratings War

It wasn’t that long ago that Fox News dropped behind both MSNBC and CNN in the coveted 25-54 age demographic. But according to the latest ratings, the conservative news network is back on top:

From Monday through Thursday, the latest day ratings provided by TV Newser are available, Fox News beat its competition in most timeslots, including in the key demo, with the only exception being Tuesday, when Attorney General Jeff Sessions testified before the Senate Intelligence Committee on issues pertaining to the investigation of the alleged connection between Trump and Russia. Even then, Fox News won handedly [sic] in total viewers, earning 3.3 million viewers during Sessions’ hearing in the 4 p.m. timeslot, 1.1 million more than the next closest competitor, CNN.

Unsurprisingly, liberal networks like MSNBC and CNN see a ratings boost when particularly damaging news about President Donald Trump is in the headlines. Likewise, Fox News gets a boost when news unfavorable to liberals is in the spotlight. Even so, Fox News’s ratings have proven to be the most consistent:

In terms of total viewership, Fox News has remained consistently on top of the competition, regardless of what’s happening in the news, suggesting among older television viewers, Fox News continues to outpace its competition by a wide margin.

Furthermore, Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity are holding strong:

On Tuesday night, MSNBC host Rachel Maddow won the 25-54 demographic during the 9 p.m. slot, earning 743,000 viewers, with just over three million total viewers. But Fox News’ Tucker Carlson won both the 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. hours—the latter when his show airs a second time—while Sean Hannity garnered the most viewers in the key demographic during the 10 p.m. slot.

By Wednesday, Fox News had reclaimed the top spot in every prime time time slot.

Meanwhile, ex-members of the network aren’t doing so hot:

Recently, Fox News made the decision to drop their iconic “Fair & Balanced” slogan in favor of a new slogan: “Most Watched. Most Trusted.” It looks like they’re living up to it.
