McConnell and GOP Senate Shut Down Far-Left Senator Elizabeth Warren

Senator Elizabeth Warren has been on an unhinged war path ever since Donald Trump won the election, but it finally came to a screeching halt when Senate Republicans voted to formally silence her.

Warren attempted yet another political stunt – the only trick the powerless Democrats have in their arsenal these days – by voicing her opposition to Trump’s Attorney General nominee Jeff Sessions.

The senator began reading a letter from Coretta Scott King written in 1986, which criticized Sessions’ resume on civil rights, because of course he’s racist.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell had heard enough, submitting an objection to Warren’s grandstanding saying “The senator has impugned the motives and conduct of our colleague from Alabama.”

She pled her case, but to no avail …

Via the New York Times:

Across the room, Senator Mitch McConnell, the majority leader, had stepped forward with an objection, setting off an extraordinary confrontation in the Capitol and silencing a colleague, procedurally, in the throes of a contentious debate over President Trump’s cabinet nominee.

“The senator has impugned the motives and conduct of our colleague from Alabama, as warned by the chair,” Mr. McConnell began, alluding to Mrs. King’s letter, which accused Mr. Sessions of using “the awesome power of his office to chill the pre-exercise of the vote by black citizens.”

Mr. McConnell called the Senate to order under what is known as Rule XIX, which prohibits debating senators from ascribing “to another senator or to other senators any conduct or motive unworthy or unbecoming a senator.”

When Mr. McConnell concluded, Ms. Warren said she was “surprised that the words of Coretta Scott King are not suitable for debate in the United States Senate.” She asked to continue her remarks.

Mr. McConnell objected.

“Objection is heard,” said Senator Steve Daines, Republican of Montana, who was presiding in the chamber at the time. “The senator will take her seat.”

The Senate went on to vote on silencing Warren, a vote that went in the affirmative, 49-43.

Take a look at the incredible exchange below …

Make no mistake, shutting Warren down has nothing to do with the words of Coretta Scott King. It has more to do with halting the constant obstructionist games being played by the Democrats in opposing any of President Trump’s nominees. Remember, this is the party that spent the last 6 years screaming bloody murder about “obstructionist” Republicans stopping Obama’s agenda.

Warren in particular has been unhinged in her rants. Such tactics make her a darling of the far, far-left, but in reality she’s no more than a glorified version of Cindy Sheehan or Sandra Fluke.

McConnell rightly shut her down.

In wrestling terms (one of Trump’s nominees, Linda McMahon can appreciate this), McConnell essentially told Warren …

Even then, Warren couldn’t find the ability to stop ranting, and instead went outside the chambers to read her letter to the only audience Democrats have these days – the adoring media.

It was a sad and lonely affair.

Warren complained that “Republicans took away my right to read this letter on the floor.” One Facebook viewer wrote the simple answer to not being shut down in the Senate.

“Don’t violate the rules!” they said.

Would you expect anything less from a woman who’s entire career has flourished because of a lie? What a disgrace Warren has become.
