Sen. Elizabeth Warren was visibly frustrated over her Q&A with National Intelligence Director Dan Coats when he wouldn’t do the “global warming” dance with her in front of the Senate Armed Services Committee.
Let’s be clear, the attendees in the room were not there for a talk on global warming, so when Warren moved to that topic using a DoD statement to read from, she thought she was the big head in the room.
Warren read her talking points and then asked the Director what he thought about her little monologue. Here’s a tip I’ve been taught throughout my lifetime, if you ask a question, make sure you know what the answer is.
Coats didn’t dance to Warren’s tune and you could see she was visibly shaken at the outcome.
“I don’t know if I would describe it as a threat multiplier,” Coats said. “There have always, in the history of the world, been reactions to different climate changes, and that is an issue that continues.”
Warren insisted that climate change “exacerbates, aggravates; this is [the Defense Department’s] words: existing problems, poverty, social tension, enviornmental degredation, ineffectual leadership, and weak politicial institutions.”
Coats declined to disagree with that description, but emphasized that the climate had continually changed. According to the director, changes in climate had confronted military and government leaders throughout “the ages.”
Instead of focusing on reversing the effects of the climate, Coats argued that national security infrastructure should adapt to changing circumstances.
Clearly miffed, Warren called climate change “clearly a threat to international peace and security” and implored Coats to “take [climate change] seriously.”

Who do you think just won this little match? I say Coats. He didn’t allow Warren to back him into a corner and have it recorded. I especially like when he talked about climate change has been happening since forever.
I stand with Coats and I would ask the Capital police to take Warren out and sign her in at the local mental institution.
