More Bad News For Democrats: Fundraising Numbers Are Drastically Low

Our Democrat friends need to lift themselves up by the bootstraps and try to find a positive message after losing even more elections in South Carolina and Georgia this week.

They need to find a silver lining. They’re just not going to find it here.

In the wake of a pair of crushing special election defeats, the DNC was hit with the harsh reality that they’re not really faring well when it comes to fundraising.

In fact, they just had their worst May in 14 years!

Via the Free Beacon:

The Democratic National Committee raised only $4.29 million in May, the organization’s worst fundraising performance in that month since 2003, according to data from the Federal Election Commission.

In May 2003, the DNC raised $2.7 million, but since that time, the party’s worst totals in May had previously been $4.5 million in both 2005 and 2015. It is common for fundraising totals to dip in the year following a presidential election race.

This comes one month after the DNC posted its worst April in terms of fundraising since 2009, hauling in just $4.7 million. That meant the Democrats’ fundraising total dipped more than $400,000 from April to May.

When confronted by NBC’s Hallie Jackson about the atrocious numbers, DNC Chair Tom Perez gave an unsurprisingly weak excuse – “Well… I got there on March 1.”

Essentially, ‘Hey, I’m just the new guy.’

Here is a brief history of the DNC fundraising during that time – Note there is always a drop in the May after a presidential election year, but these numbers show a steep decline between 2009 and 2017.

DNC’s May Fundraising History

“I was the first to say, we have a lot of rebuilding to do,” Perez claims.

Unfortunately, the numbers don’t seem to indicate that fundraising is heading in the right direction under his guidance. In fact, the DNC actually raised $438,000 less in May than in April.

Things are not only looking good for Karen Handel and Georgia, they’re looking mighty good for the Republican party in general.
