DNC Chairman Tom Perez Booed During Tour Stop in Maine

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) is a shambles following Hillary Clinton’s humiliating loss in the 2016 election. That, combined with the resignation of DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, leaves a shattered party attempting to rebuild itself, while still pushing conspiracy theories to explain why their candidate lost to President Donald J. Trump.

Democrats selected former Obama Labor Secretary Tom Perez to lead the DNC, and since taking the reins, he has viciously attacked the president every chance he gets, while doing little self-reflection to figure out why their party was rejected at the ballot box last November.

During a recent stop at the DNC’s “Come Together Fight Back” tour in Portland, Maine, Perez was viciously booed by members of his own party, a spectacle that likely startled the chair.

From The Daily Caller:

“Regardless of why you showed up today, you showed up for a reason. Something compelled you to find the space and time to be here, and I want you to ask yourself what that reason is,” Claire Cummings, a leader of the Maine Young Democrats, told the crowd.

“Maybe it’s because you love a certain senator from Vermont,” Cummings said, referring to Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders. The crowd roared with approval at the mention of Sanders’ name and started chanting his name.

“Maybe you came though because you’re curious about the new DNC chairman and the future of the Democratic party,” Cummings said, referring to Perez.

This, time, however, the crowd reacted with boos and a few scattered cheers, prompting Cummings to react with surprise before continuing.

It’s a bad sign when the head of the DNC is being booed by the most dedicated members of his own party. Perez has been in office for less than two months, and his party seems to be already rejecting him. Remember, Perez won a hotly-contested chairmanship race against far-left Democrat Congressman Keith Ellison, who was backed by Senator Bernie Sanders.

The far-left base of the Democrat Party did not support Perez, who was backed by the establishment, and the hostile reception he received in Maine might be an arbiter of what’s to come.

Does Perez being booed at a Democrat rally signal that his party is even further to the left than we thought? Share your thoughts below!
