Famous actor Michael Mantenuto, best known for playing Jack O’Callahan in Disney’s “Miracle” — killed himself Monday in Washington State. He was only 35 years old.
According to the coroner, Mantenuto shot himself:
As a budding actor with hockey skills, Michael landed the role in the Disney flick about the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team. He only acted in 2 other movies, and went on to enlist in the army … and joined the Special Forces.
Col. Guillaume Beaurpere, commander of Mantenuto’s army unit, announced his death.
The movie showed America’s triumph during the Cold War. Then, he decided to serve his country in the military. A tragic loss of such a young, talented actor.

It is absolutely tragic how many young stars take their own lives or end up dead from substance abuse. Perhaps we put too much pressure on these young stars, at a time when they can’t handle the pressure.
Let us pray for Mantenuto’s family during this difficult time. Rest in peace.
