General Services Administration: Trump Hotel Doesn’t Violate Conflict of Interest

Democrats will not reject any attempt to undermine the President, including the claim that he should be “impeached” over Trump Hotel.

But according to the U.S. General Services Administration, the Trump Hotel in Washington does not violate conflict of interest rules barring elected officials such as President Trump from taking part in a lease of federal property.

In a letter from the GSA, the agency said the issue had been resolved due to Donald Trump Jr. taking over the Washington hotel and by changing their internal operating agreement.

The GSA said Trump’s company ‘was in full compliance with the section of the lease prohibiting elected federal officials from having any part of it.’

Too bad, Democrats.

The Trump International Hotel in Washington is not in violation of federal conflict-of-interest rules that bar elected officials from taking part in a lease of federal property, the U.S. General Services Administration said on Thursday.

Critics argued that the luxury hotel housed in the historic Old Post Office a few blocks from the White House was a conflict of interest for Republican President Donald Trump because he is both landlord and tenant of the building. Lawyers for the hotel said the claim had no merit.

Democratic lawmakers asked the GSA, which oversees federal property, to clarify the status of the lease arrangement.

“We would like to thank the GSA for their diligent review of this matter,” Amanda Miller, a spokeswoman for the hotel, said in an email.

Well, that’s going to leave some extremist liberals tossing and turning at night.

Democrats have been continually citing the Emoluments Clause of the Constitution as a means to impeach Trump, the word ’emoluments’ being three syllables longer than words they typically use when discussing the President.

Maryland Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin cited the clause when planning to initiate impeachment proceedings in January.

“Right now it looks pretty obvious that he’s on a collision course with the Emoluments Clause,” Raskin asserted. “He has refused to divest himself of tens or hundreds of millions of dollars of business interests he has around the world doing business with foreign governments.”

Elizabeth Warren spoke about impeachment before Trump even took office, leading to snickering and jeering from those of us with a foothold on reality. Nevertheless, she persisted.

While Democrats were looking at this as their smoking gun to impeach Donald Trump, the GSA announcement will certainly dampen their excitement.

Make no mistake, however, they’ll just move on to the next manufactured scandal to try and remove him from office.

Russia, anyone?
