Rory Feek of Joey + Rory has announced his wife is about to lose her battle with cancer. Joey Feek just said goodbye to her daughters forever, as she prepares for what doctors told her would be the end of her life.
They had a series of Farmhouse Concerts planned this summer, but cancelled them while Joey underwent intense radiation and chemotherapy, along with surgery. Sadly, she has not responded to treatment, and medical science can no longer help her.
The couple have decided to leave it in God’s hands, as the treatment is too severe.
They are with Joey’s family in Indiana now, with their two children Heidi and Hoppie. They are from his previous marriage, but Joey raised them as her own.
“They don’t actually call Joey mom. They never have,” he writes. “I don’t know why. Maybe they’ve always been too afraid to completely trust to completely give all of their hearts over afraid that they’ll get left again by a woman that they love.”
Joey hasn’t been strong enough to get up and go outside, but she managed to make it out to the porch swing for an important conversation with the girls.
“She told them how much she loved them, and how proud she is of them. And how proud she is to be their mother,” Rory shares. “And then she talked with them about the one thing that she didn’t think she would ever have to talk with them about: Leaving them. And then she told them of the day when they’ll be together again in Heaven.”
As they were crying together on the porch swing, Joey’s mother, sister and her sister’s kids walked by, pushing Indiana in her stroller.
The last moments together with the children were laughing and fun. But ended with tears and sadness. However, they know that no matter what, Joey will always be with them.
They are asking fans to pray with them in a “prayer vigil” on November 5pm, 9pm Eastern. They are praying for a miracle, and praying for peace.
Here is some of the great music they made as a talented country duo. Sweet and beautiful…
Join us in praying for Joey and Rory during this difficult time. They need our prayers NOW.
