College Told Him He Couldn’t Hand Out Constitutions; This Response Is Awesome!

This college student wanted to hand out the Constitution to inform other students of their rights in America, but the school said he couldn’t do it.

This institution, Pierce College, has a “safe space,” or as they call it “free speech zone,” of over 600 square feet. It is the only place on campus where people are “Free” to practice their 1st Amendment rights.

Our Founding Fathers didn’t create safe spaces for freedom of speech.

Kevin Shaw, 27, decided enough was enough and filed a lawsuit against the Los Angeles Community College District for stopping him as he posed no threat to anyone.

“When I attempted to hand out copies of the Constitution that day, my only intention was to get students thinking about our founding principles and to inspire discussion of liberty and free speech,” Shaw said in a statement. “I had no idea I would be called upon to defend those very ideals against Pierce’s unconstitutional campus policies.”

“This fight is about a student’s right to engage in free thinking and debate while attending college in America.”

I love it! The thought of these “free speech zones” is repellent and unconstitutional. Meanwhile, the hate speech zone is ever expanding. The entire education system of this country needs fixing. And teachers and so called professors need to stay on subject and not wander off into politics.

Kevin should have opened up the booklet, read the 1st Amendment and stood his ground.

These attacks on free speech are the horrible legacy of Barack Obama. We are defending our right to be citizens against others who believe we are 4th world plebes.

Academics claim to be the beacons of diversity. But that doesn’t extend to diversity of ideas. Guess somebody forgot to read the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
