Chicago Passes 500 Shooting Homicides for the Year

Have you ever noticed that it’s only the “scary” guns that liberals want to ban?

They’ll toss out words like “semi-automatic” (which I’m 99% sure liberals think means “automatic”), “assault rifles” (which are mechanically identical to your ordinary rifle), or “weapons of war.” In regards to the last term, a favorite quote comes from the liberal comedian Andy Borowitz: “A requirement of purchasing an AR-15 should be a two-year period of using the weapon as an enlisted member of the US military in Afghanistan.” That’s a particularly hilarious quote once you realize that the comprehensive list of military engagements in which the AR-15 was issued to infantry is as follows: ” “.

Sounds like someone should have a done a little more research in that department.

Regardless, of all gun deaths every year, rifles (regular + “assault”) usually only account for fewer than 3% of the total.

There’s a similar type of hysteria in the fact that we only hear calls for gun control in the wake of mass shootings – which in a bad year still account for less than 1% of all gun homicides. If liberals actually cared about the victims of gun violence, they’d be targeting the firearms responsible for most gun deaths: handguns, which account for over 80% of them in any given year. While I do not believe gun control applied to handguns would be successful, the fact that liberals think it would be and aren’t targeting it shows that they’re only pushing for the kind of gun control they believe they can scare the American public into supporting.

Perhaps they’re worried that when people look at the details, they’ll find most of the gun violence is coming from liberal cities like Chicago. According to NBC Chicago, the city just saw its 500th gun homicide this year, meaning that a single city will account for about 5% of all the gun homicides this year.

The report states: “A man shot dead early Friday evening was the 500th person to be killed in city gun violence since the start of the year on a weekend that has left three others wounded in shootings across Chicago.┬áThe city reached 500 shooting homicides about a week later than it did last year, on Sept. 29, 2016, according to data maintained by the Chicago Sun-Times.”

Tucker Carlson covered this tragic fact on his show last night:

And Chicago isn’t even the most dangerous city in the nation. Take a look at the chart below:

As liberals fear-monger over tragedies like the massacre in Las Vegas, Chicago sees the same kind of violence every year.

Share this story if you think liberals should concentrate on stopping deaths in Chicago instead of trying to take our guns away!
