Fox News Anchor Bret Baier and Family Involved in Serious Car Crash

Fox News anchor Bret Baier and his family were involved in a serious car accident during a ski trip in Montana over the holiday weekend.

The accident was first reported by Stephen Colbert, host of ‘The Late Show,’ who had anticipated having Baier on as a guest for Tuesday night’s show.

The extent of damage to the vehicle, which had Baier, his wife Amy, and their two sons, Paul, age 11, and Daniel, age 8, inside, was revealed by Colbert.

“One of the news anchors for Fox News Bret Baier was supposed to be here tomorrow night,” he reported. “We found out he and his family were in a car accident in Montana, jaws of life had to get them out of there.”

Colbert added, “They’re all in the hospital. They’re okay.”

Details From Baier

While details from officials remain sketchy, Baier posted a tweet on Monday confirming that something bad had happened.

“Don’t take anything for granted,” he wrote, referencing his family.

Early Tuesday morning, Baier issued a statement that provided some harrowing details of the family’s ordeal.

“After a weekend of skiing with my wife and two boys in Montana, driving to the airport Monday morning on icy roads, we were involved in a major car crash,” Baier said. “Thanks to a man driving by named Zach who stopped and helped, we were able to climb out of the flipped car.”

Judging by that description, it sounds like it was a one-car crash due to some icy conditions.

“We are very grateful to all of those who helped us out,” he added. “My advice to everyone is to always wear your seatbelt and to count your blessings everyday.”

Baier then reiterated his previous tweet about family.

Bret is a Staple at Fox

Baier is an important cog for Fox News on their straight reporting side of the aisle. And they know it.

The Fox News anchor just signed a multiyear contract to continue his role on “Special Report.” The contract extends his time with the show and network well past the 2020 presidential election.

“Bret continues to be the gold standard not only across FNC, but the entire news industry and his reporting has played an integral role in the success and growth of the network,” Fox News president Jay Wallace said in a statement.
