Ben Carson Says Poverty Largely a ‘State of Mind’

During a recent interview, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson, said that poverty could largely be considered a “state of mind.”

“I think poverty to a large extent is also a state of mind,” he said in an interview on Sirius XM Radio.

Carson then helpfully compared the two states of mind that can lead either to a path of success, or a path to poverty.

“You take somebody that has the right mindset, you can take everything from them and put them on the street, and I guarantee in a little while they’ll be right back up there,” he explained.

“And you take somebody with the wrong mindset, you can give them everything in the world,” Carson lamented, and “they’ll work their way right back down to the bottom.”

Naturally, liberals were apoplectic over the notion that one needs a strong frame of mind to create a better life for themselves.

Takei, himself a blithering idiot, likely speaks from experience.

Yes, because the “wealthy neurosurgeon” couldn’t possibly relate to the plight of the common people, right?

Here’s an excerpt from Biography:

If Carson seemed destined for any position when he was a child growing up on the streets of Detroit, he appeared most qualified for the role of putting someone else in the hospital-or even the morgue. In his profile on the American Academy of Achievement website, it was noted that Carson “had a temper so violent that he would attack other children, even his mother, at the slightest provocation.” No doubt some of his anger stemmed from the conditions of his childhood. Carson’s father left his mother, Sonya, when he was only eight; his mother, who had only a third-grade education, was faced with the daunting task of raising her sons Ben and Curtis by herself. She worked as a maid, sometimes holding two or even three jobs to support her family. The family was poor, and Carson often endured the cruel taunts of his classmates.

This isn’t the first time liberals have attacked Carson for trying to empower the poor, nor will it be the last time. Liberal elites were slamming him for recent comments on public housing.

Carson had said that a beneficiary of public housing shouldn’t be provided too “comfortable (a) setting.”

Perpetually outraged leftists claimed Carson was “blaming poor people for being poor.”

On the other hand, Dr. Carson’s famous speech slamming Obamacare right in front of failed President Obama is still a classic:

If anything, the left is only proving Carson’s point, that the real blame game and excuses coming from the left is indeed a “state of mind.”
