With President-elect Donald J. Trump’s inauguration now just one week away, the prominent businessman has been working diligently with American companies to remain in the U.S. and create new jobs.
Well, one of America’s largest retailers, Amazon, has just announced that it will be adding 100,000 new American jobs over the next 18 weeks, which will bring its total U.S. workforce to 280,000.

The additional jobs would swell Amazon’s U.S. workforce, which stood at 180,000 last year. The Seattle-based company said that many of the new jobs will be at already announced warehouses under construction in Texas, California, Florida, New Jersey and elsewhere.
“Innovation is one of our guiding principles at Amazon, and it’s created hundreds of thousands of American jobs,” said Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos. He added that some of the new jobs would be in areas such as cloud technology, machine learning, and advanced logistics.

Mr. Bezos said in a statement at the time that Mr. Trump’s promised focus on innovation “would create a huge number of jobs across the whole country, in all sectors, not just tech—agriculture, infrastructure, manufacturing—everywhere.”
The biggest source of jobs at Amazon is its warehouses, which process and ship orders. Amazon opened about two dozen new warehouses in the third quarter of last year, prompting costs to soar in part due to those investments, the company said. That brought its total number of warehouses globally to about 150.
After President-elect Trump’s November victory, he met with executives from some of the top companies in the country, and pledged to work with them to create a business-friendly environment that encourages U.S. companies to remain here rather than hire cheap foreign labor.
Clearly, companies like Amazon believe that President-elect Trump will create a business climate that discourages outsourcing of U.S. jobs and are acting swiftly by announcing investments in new American jobs!
